Synopsis:

Four women, four life stories that were influenced by the war. The film captures the testimony of migrant women, which in the 90s had fled from war-torn Yugoslavia to the Czech Republic. Through personal stories and memories film mediates their lives, from escaping Bosnia and Herzegovina, through difficult job search and struggle to survive in a foreign country, to balancing how new life changed their family life and social status. At a deeper level, from the perspective of twenty years of life in a new home, the film talks about what essential and often irreversible changes refugee status brings.

The screening will be followed by a debate about women in migration, together with our colleagues and clients (in Czech).

The screening is a side event to the international exhibition Fear of the Unknown, which reflects the current refugee crisis through visual arts. The exhibition is displayed in the Galerie NTK until 31 March.

With the screening SIMI also launches the celebrations of its 25th anniversary.
