The change in the approach to the employment of family members of an EU citizen.
On the basis of the Ombudsman's investigation, which dealt with the issue of access of EU citizens’ family members to employment in the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs endorsed the opinion that family members of EU citizens and the Czech Republic have free access to the labor market.
The Ombudsman’s statement of 5th September 2013 says: "To establish the status of a family member of an EU citizen it is sufficient to produce a passport, in which it is indicated that he/she has applied for a temporary residence permit of a family member of an EU citizen. Thus free access to the labor market should be granted not only to persons to whom the Ministry of Interior issued a temporary residence permit in the form of a residence card of a family member of an EU citizen, but also to those, who have applied for the said temporary residence permit and have a confirmation of the temporary residence permit’s submission in their passports, or they have the interim visa/residence sticker in their passports which indicates that the person has applied for a temporary residence permit of a family member of an EU citizen."
If you have already applied for a temporary residence permit of a family member of an EU citizen according to Section 87b of Act No. 326/1999 Coll., on the residence of foreigners in the Czech Republic and on amendment of certain laws, you meet the above mentioned condition for establishing the status of a family member of an EU citizen for the purposes of employment.
Therefore you do not need a valid work permit for employment.
