Round table discussion of the integration of foreigners on the local level - advices for local authorities

On 1st of April, the first round table organised within the project INTEGRO and titled “Finding suitable ways of integrating foreigners at the local level" took place at AKC in Prague 1.

Discussions were carried out with representatives of various entities (the city district authorities, ministries, NGOs and migrants). There was talk on how to better contribute the integration of foreigners at the local level and how to encourage foreigners to actively participate in events within their area.

SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LOCAL AUTHORITIES:

  • Hold regular meetings of municipality/city districts with NGOs and migrants - to identify their needs and offers
  • Involve migrants across the board in the decision making process of their municipality/city district - community planning working groups
  • Involve migrants in the activities/projects of municipality/city districts, not only through NGOs
  • Develop voluntary work opportunities for its citizens of the municipality, including  migrants - delivering the necessary contacts
  • Adapting integration measures for different groups of migrants in the area
  • Provide clear information to migrants - translation of information materials about the local services /various language versions, place information for foreigners on their web site
  • Set aside part of the funds of the municipality/city service to the community interpreters, intercultural workers
  • Offering space in newspaper municipalities / municipal districts - ECC - migrants , practical information for foreigners ( eg, Praha 2 )
  • Conduct research / surveys on the situation of foreigners in the area and convey the results to the public, for a wide audience (experts, NGOs , local government, residents of the borough)
  • Offer a variety of opportunities for cooperation with migrants - from one-off after long
  • Promote education and training of teachers to work with foreigners , especially in kindergartens
  • Promote integration activities within the DDM, which is easier to meet the majorities and minorities of those communities

Od roku 1992 poskytujeme pomoc a podporu uprchlíkům a migrantům na území České republiky. Bezprecedentní útok na Ukrajinu znamená, že k nám přijdou lidé utíkající před násilím a válkou. Za naší Ukrajinskou komunitou míří jejich rodinní příslušníci a blízcí.

Ze zkušenosti víme, že nově příchozí budou potřebovat asistenci, pomoc při řešení jejich základních potřeb a následném zabydlování. Bude třeba jim poskytovat tlumočení, doprovody, psychoterapeutickou péči, pomoc při hledání zaměstnání i finanční podporu. 

Na druhé straně se na nás obrací česká veřejnost s nabídkou ubytování, materiální či jiné podpory. Tyto nabídky musíme zpracovat, zkoordinovat a efektivně využít.
