Enrolments for compulsory education for school year 2020/2021

Enrolment in primary schools

Enrolment in primary schools will take place in due time from 01 April 2020 to 30 April 2020, however according to the recommendation of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MŠMT) the enrolment will happen without the presence of children.

Schools will provide detailed information on the enrolment process on their websites. Please follow the website of the school where you want to enrol your child. Information on the enrolment will be updated step by step.

Most schools prefer for parents to submit applications remotely, in line with the measure issued by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for enrolment for the 2020/2021 school year.

Parents will find a link to the online enrolment on the websites of most schools (possibly with the option of a school visit if the school requires one).

How does the online enrolment work?

  1. Parents fill out an online entry form.
  2. The system generates an application form sent to parents‘ emails so that they can download it and sign it. At the same time, the system sends the child’s enrolment information to the school.
  3. Parents will sign the downloaded application form (it is possible to print and sign, provide an electronic document with a verified electronic signature, or send it through a data box where signature is not necessary as the data box identifies the sender).
  4. Parents must deliver the application form to the school together with the documents required by the school, such as a birth certificate of the child (copy, scan or photo), identity card of a parent or a legal guardian of the child, advice from an educational/psychological advisory centre regarding a postponement of school attendance of a child (it is possible to deliver this later after the advisory centres reopen).

Ways to deliver the application form to the school

Remote submission is preferred

  • electronically (via data box, email with electronic signature,
  • by post.

Personal handover is possible only after personal agreement with the school or after booking a date in the online system if the school has decided to verify the original documents for enrolment on site.

If parents do not have the facilities to fill out the application form online or print it out, by calling the school they can arrange to collect the application form in person.
