Coutrywide measures the Goverment of the CR

On 12 March 2020, a state of emergency was declared for a period of 30 days, during which many restrictions on everyday life in the Czech Republic may occur.

In all public spaces (including public transport) IT IS MANDATORY TO WEAR a protective face covering (covering the mouth and nose) such as respirators, face masks, scarves, shawls, or other equipment that can block the spread of droplets.

In general, the implemented emergency measures also include: suspension of teaching at elementary schools, high schools, and universities; restrictions on free movement of people (with exceptions such as travel to work, visiting family, seeing a doctor, purchase of necessary supplies, or staying in parks); sale ban with exceptions (e.g. food stores, drugstores, electronics stores, haberdasheries, tobacconists, newsagents); between 8:00 and 10:00 in the morning the shops are open only for customers over 65 years of age.

UPDATE of the measures in force as of 6 April 2020

The government approved the opening of some shops and establishments.

  • From Tuesday, April 7, 2020, outdoor sports grounds, parks and other public areas can be opened for individual sports. The same applies to raw material collection points, collection yards and composting plants.
  • From Thursday, April 9, 2020, the lifting of the ban will extend to hobby markets, construction product stores, hardware stores and bicycle repair shops.
  • From Tuesday, April 14, the current ban on traveling from the Czech Republic will be slightly released. In addition to shuttle workers and other people who are already exempt from the ban, people who prove that their traveling abroad is necessary, whether for work or private reasons, will be allowed to leave the country. Abroad, they should refrain from personal contacts and will have to undergo a health check and quarantine when returning.
  • The current limitation of the activities of the Czech POINT workplaces so that people can deal with urgent official matters in this form are also cancelled with an immediate effect. The extraordinary measure concerning the activities of municipalities is also changing. Representatives may meet as long as they have respiratory protective equipment and keep a distance of two meters between each other.
