Integration

The present publication refers to a specific topic of the status and situation of migrant women and women with a migration background in upper-middle and senior age in the Czech Republic. It is a theme in the Czech environment yet unresolved, which, however, has been gradually gaining in size and, therefore, in relevance.

The conference is devoted to the topic of aging migrant women, whose number in the Czech Republic is gradually increasing, but their position is still paid very little attention to.

Since 2011, migrants at Prague's foreigners' residence units of the Ministry of the Interior have had the possibility to use newly created services of intercultural workers. In practice, the application of these services can be extended far beyond immigration authorities.

SIMI, for instance, has been focusing in its project called INTEGRO on the promotion and the development of intercultural services in different Prague districts.

SIMI is now offering Services of intercultural workers to migrants, municipal authorities and public institutions.

The services are FREE OF CHARGE from December 2014 to May 2015.

The services are offered in the following languages: Czech, Russian, English,Ukrainian, Spanish a Vietnamese.

Come to learn more about the largest nation without its own state. Discover its history, culture, current situation and curiosities. During the evening you can also taste traditional specialties of Kurdistan and try to prepare them. The evening will be hosted by Mr. Karim Hussein, a Syrian Kurd living in the Czech Republic.

Work discrimination against women is nothing new in the Czech Republic. It ranks, together with age discrimination, among the major obstacles to labour market placement. With ethnic and social discrimination, which may be faced by up to 189,000 regular female migrants in our territory, it is a barrier that is very difficult to surmount.
