Where we were on International Women's Day

On Friday, March 8th, International Women's Day was celebrated.

On this occasion, the European Network of Migrant Women (ENoMW) released a MANIFESTO highlighting urgent issues regarding the rights, equality, and opportunities of migrant and refugee women in European societies, particularly in light of the upcoming 2024 European Parliament elections.

In our work, we have long been dedicated to women from around the world. To support and express solidarity with migrant women in the Czech Republic and other women, we participated in or attended various events last week, including:

  • a meeting organized by the Office of the Government "Republic of the Female Gender" (Republika rodu ženského)
  • the opening of the exhibition "Prague Feminist" (Praha feministická) by Gender Studies, o.p.s. at the Hybernská Campus
  • a debate and screening of the film "Sisters from the Smoke Sauna" organized by the Czech Women's Lobby at the French Institute
  • the conference of the Research Center on Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ReCeGe) at the Hybernská Campus
  • the event by the Union of Midwives - UNIPA with lectures and a panel discussion on care for women during pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood at the Atrium Žižkov
  • the event and march organized by the organization Pangea at Palach Square and Old Town Square.
